Mona Farm, Utah

Mona Farm, Utah

I remember being at the Mona Farm in Utah for the first time.  It was July 2018, and a little intimidating. The farm is  so vast and since I went on my own, so I made friends quickly to explore the farm! My focus was to walk through the distillery to see it in action! I also went out to the lavender fields and planted a seedling and of course did a “jump for joy” in the field as well.

A year later was my second time around. I had a clear plan enjoy the land, get grounded. I had a more relaxing visit. I visited the award winning Percherons and Friesians and then took off my shoes and waded in the stream! I also got to enjoy the incoming parade of motorcycles that ride for one of Young Living’s foundations “Ride for a Reason”.

My goal for my next visit is to check out the jousting event!! Although the convention is digital this year, I’m holding my memories close and really love sharing them with you!

Are you coming along with me to visit the Mona Farm in 2021?!

"Looking Glasses"

"Looking Glasses"
Looking Glasses!  That's right I'm here to blog today about looking through glasses, otherwise know as specs, spectacles, glasses, frames......

My journey started at a very early age with my "looking glasses".  Before the age of 6 I was quite the clumsy one per my mother.  She thought I was just uncoordinated.  I was always knocking things over and bumping my shoulders on doorways as I passed through.   I tripped, fell and generally was unbalanced.  She enrolled me into ballet lessons and thought that might help.

Then elementary school happened.  In the 1970's they did vision screenings.  After a vision screening they sent home with "A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE" for my parents pinned to my shirt.  The note said, your child failed the vision screening, please get her eyes professionally examined, IMMEDIATELY.  It turns out I was not seeing well AT ALL.  I had a nearsighted eye, and one farsighted eye,and both had a astigmatism.  I remember the day I got my first pair of glasses like it was yesterday!  I recall walking out of the office holding onto my mom's hand for stability.  It's like my eyes were closed, and now I could open them wide and relearn how everything looked!  It was exciting, but scary too.  I remember that I was looking down at the ground and all the details of the sidewalk, jumped right up to my eyes.  Then, looking up at some trees, I could not believe the details of the green leaves and the bark on the trunk!

I was SO amazed by how colorful everything was, and how beautiful things now looked to me!  I still come to appreciate colors and perhaps that shaped how I "look at things"?!  Over time, my vision improved and when I was a teenager I no longer need to wear glasses everyday, only to drive with.  As I have gotten older my eyes have begun a reversal.  I now wear trifocals.  It can be very complicated for me to wear glasses these days.  I have prescription reading glasses, sunglasses, and glasses I wear every day, ALL day.

I always wanted to be able to wear contacts.  I gave it a good try but due to my near and farsightedness along with my astigmatism in both eyes, it just isn't possible.  When my children were young, I always wondered if they would have the need for glasses as well.  I was always was mindful about it, and even a bit worried.  My daughter does wear glasses now, but only single vision, and my son has never needed them!  My husband has the good eye genes, so perhaps that helped out with the kids!  I love getting new frames, something I've always enjoyed doing together with my daughter.

How are you seeing life?!  Do you wear glasses?

My Oily Story

My Oily Story
I remember when my life was the MOST stressful.  I was working 75+ hours a week in a medical office as well as overflow work at home.  My husband was building a computer business, and we were raising two teens.  I honestly don't know how we got anything done.  It was crazy trying to manage a career, raising kids, meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and simply spending time together.   We also had after school activities, dance and sports to shuttle the kids around to and attend.  We were at swim meets, high school football games, hockey games, high school band concerts and pageants.  I've always been an avid volunteer and at that time in my life I was volunteering heavily as an advisor for Junior Optimist club for 8 years and a chairperson for my son's Class of 2010 Senior all night party.

My stress really got worse and it was presenting other physical symptoms.  This was not ideal for my work-life and home-life balance.  Working with my medical team, we ruled out some things, and identified others.   I had digestive challenges and low-level hormone counts.   I have always leaned towards using natural products for myself,  so with the support of my primary care physician, I began research my heart out on nutrition, and other natural remedies to support all my systems.  I learned I was on the right track but not even close to “all around clean living”.  I searched for several years before I came to learn more about living a chemical free home lifestyle. I learned that even though I was eating healthy, things inside my own home may have been contributing to some of my symptoms...  Who knew?!

For about 7 years, I tried many different diets and over the counter hormone replacement therapies such as Wild Yam Extracts, topical hormone creams and other natural digestive remedies.  In 2016, I ordered my very first bottle of therapeutic essential oil product from Young Living!  I had entered the crunchy world of "there's an oil for that"!  I’m embarrassed to say I stuffed this amazing bottle away in my nightstand, then thought forgot all about it.  About 3 months later I remembered it and said out loud one day “hey I really need to try that Progessence Plus stuff “! All I can say is WOW!  I was hooked at that point on devouring any information I can about theses plant based all natural drops of happiness!

My life today looks much different now. We are now "empty-nesters", and I work for myself now.   We have a “clean” living environment in our home, meaning no chemicals,  To keep our household stocked we mainly rely on our monthly wellness box for some foods, supplements, personal and skin care items as well as oils.  We buy produce in the summer months from local farmers, and occasionally go shopping for paper products like tissues and toilet paper.  We don’t use OTC (Over The Counter) anything.  More recently we joined a delivery service that delivers anything we need from the retail stores.

The result is… I am healthier, happier, have more time to do the things I love AND so much less stressed!  It sometimes even feels weird.  I see the same primary care physician and for the past few years and at my annual visit, he looks at my lab numbers, smiles and says…”I don’t know what you are doing, but just keep doing it”!

I enjoy living an optimistic life and hope to always teach, share,  inspire, motivate, encourage and to promote compassion, kindness and goodwill.  I'm a creative mind, a free spirit, and gentle soul.  I believe that everyone deserves to have someone advocating, cheer-leading or supporting them.

How can I help YOU with your wellness journey?!

Butterflies for Everyone!

Butterflies for Everyone!
In the YL essential oily lifestyle there are 3 ways to disperse the oils:   Aromatically, Topically and only with Young Living you have Ingesting. (these would be the  dietary-grade Vitality Oils and they are now GMO Project Certified)  In this blog post we will look at Aromatically.  Aroma or aromatically simply means to tickle the senses with smelling a distinctive smell! There are many ways to enjoy therapeutic  oils through diffusing them into the air.   You can mix with distilled water in a spray bottle and simply spray them.  You can also just add them to a wooden clothes pin and clip it anywhere.

Another option is to use a ultrasonic electric diffuser adding water plus the oils to send it out into your personal breathing space. You can also place a few drops in the palm of your hand, and swirl around with both hands, the cup them around your nose and inhale.   I love to use the oils on a dense wool pad that gets placed into a stainless steel diffuser locket and enjoy the aroma all day long,  (it's simple aromatherapy) so much so that I began designing them in late 2017.  In March 2018 we finalized our first run of designs and sent them off to be cut.  The Citrus Slice was my first favorite and I felt so strongly that it was going to be the one that everyone loved!

Month after month of presenting the line out at famers markets, vendor shows and craft shows it was clear that the Butterfly was everyone's FAV, not the Citrus Slice I was so sure about!  Since I'm a creative person/artist, this has been exciting  to be able to combine my artistry and creativity with my love of using essential oils.  The best part has been seeing my designs come to life in jewelry form, something I had never done before AND then being able to share them with others.

During the journey we have gathered peoples suggestions and their essential oil favorites to use in the designs.  The top three YL essential oil people like to use in our  LWL diffuser jewelry of 2018 were:  1.  Citrus Fresh  2. Lavender 3. Peppermint  (which was not suprising!) The most unusual feedback we got was design suggestions for sloths and running shoes!  In 2018 we also did our first custom order as a memorial piece in the form of a necklace pendant and I feel very blessed that the recipient loved it!

What oils may you feel happy?
